Kala Patthar Trek: : Touching the Foot of Everest’s Glory - Days 12

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu (1,400 m), you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest from your journey or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a popular tourist area in Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Begin with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, followed by a trek to Phakding. The trail descends through picturesque villages and alongside the Dudh Koshi River.

Today’s trek takes you from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m), the largest Sherpa village in the Everest region. The trail follows the Dudh Kosi River and crosses it multiple times via suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. As you ascend, you get the first views of Everest and neighboring peaks. The trek is approximately 6 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse in Namche Bazaar.

To acclimatize to the higher altitude, you will spend the day in Namche Bazaar. In the morning, you can hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,962 m) for stunning panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. The hike takes about 3-4 hours round-trip. Afterward, you can explore Namche Bazaar, visit the Sherpa Cultural Museum, or relax and enjoy the mountain atmosphere. Overnight at a guesthouse in Namche Bazaar.

The trek today leads from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m), home to the famous Tengboche Monastery with awe-inspiring views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. The trail gradually descends to the Dudh Kosi River before ascending through rhododendron forests to Tengboche. Approximate trekking time is 5 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse in Tengboche.

From Tengboche, you trek uphill to Dingboche (4,410 m), a summer grazing settlement surrounded by stone walls to protect crops from the cold winds and animals. The trail offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The trek takes about 5 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse in Dingboche.

Today is another acclimatization day to help your body adjust to the high altitude. You can hike to Nagerjun Hill (5,100 m), which offers stunning views of Makalu, Cholatse, Taboche, Ama Dablam, and others. The hike takes about 4-5 hours round-trip. Alternatively, you can explore Dingboche village and relax. Overnight at a guesthouse in Dingboche.

From Dingboche, the trail ascends gradually towards Dugla and then to Lobuche (4,910 m), nestled amidst the stunning peaks of Cholatse and Lobuche. The trek takes about 5 hours, passing through Khumbu Khola Valley and crossing the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier. Overnight at a guesthouse in Lobuche.

Today is a challenging day as you trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,181 m) and then continue to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). The trail leads through rocky moraines and glacial debris with spectacular views of the Khumbu Icefall. After spending some time at Everest Base Camp, you descend back to Gorakshep. The trek takes about 8 hours in total. Overnight at a guesthouse in Gorakshep.

Early in the morning, you hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for sunrise views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and other peaks. This climb is considered the highlight of the trek. After enjoying the views, you descend to Gorakshep and continue down to Pheriche (4,210 m). The trek takes about 7 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse in Pheriche.

Today, you descend from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar. The trail retraces your steps through Pangboche village and Tengboche Monastery, then continues down to Phunki Tenga before the final ascent to Namche Bazaar. The trek takes about 7 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse in Namche Bazaar.

From Namche Bazaar, you trek back to Lukla, where you began your journey. The trail descends steeply through forests and Sherpa villages, offering a different perspective of the landscape you passed through on your way up. The trek takes about 7 hours. Overnight at a guesthouse in Lukla.

You take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes.

In the season month (March, April, May, October, and November) we flight back to manthali, Ramechap from lukla which is 20 min flight. At same day we return back to kathmandu by private/sharing tourist vehichle which takes about a 5 to 6.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing, shopping for souvenirs, or exploring more of Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure from Nepal. If time permits, you can explore more of Kathmandu before your flight.
